Dear Paulo,
In spite of the rain, we had a wonderful time. The best part was that lovely apartment. It was so nice to have such a comfortable place to come back to at the end of a day of sightseeing. I miss it. I certainly miss that gorgeous view. And really miss your charming city. We will be back. Thank you so much.

The location of this apartment is excellent. Within a proper community rather than touristy and with a butcher, bars, eateries, cafe and small supermarket right on the doorstep. Friendly and safe.

A very short level walk to the Ribiera area with even more bar, cafes and eateries! Lovely boat trips can be taken from here and it's easy to get to the other side of the Douro on foot, to V.N. Gaia, for the wonderful Port Houses. Slightly further out, but worth the effort, one we'd recommend is Rozes. The excellently valued city tour buses are also a short walk away, as is the old traditional tram stop area. When we were there it cost 10E and one could take all 3 bus sight seeing trips on the ticket (Castles, Bridges and Historical) - worth every cent. You can even do helicopter trips and speed boats, great! Plenty of sports facilities on nearby beach areas all within reach without a car.

Porto is on a very steep hill, but with local buses also on the doorstep, it's not a problem if you don't like walking up - down is fine!

The apartment itself was clean and well equiped (coffee maker, juicer, toaster, even a fondue!) - we also got a welcome basket, which was a nice & useful touch. A family member of the owners, Luis, picked us up at the airport anf for an addtional charge also took us back. Luis was very informative, friendly and punctual. We felt that if we'd had any problems, or questions, we'd have been perfectly at ease contacting him. Luckily we didn't need to! We did feel, however, that the apartment would be cramped for 4 adults (the sofa bed seats 2 as a sofa), but a couple with a young child or 2 would prob be OK.

Only thing missing was cable/satellite TV - only had normal Portuguese channels. We would also politely suggest to Ana & Saul to have the apartment checked over each time guests leave. The shower curtain had been torn and "fixed" by someone (it obviously broke again), there were springs on the table, which looked like they came from the sofa bed (I have one, so know what they look like) and the cooker extractor hood and light didn't work. Also most of the table lamp bulbs were out, which we happily replaced. We did inform Luis of these things on leaving.

These were small things and not really problems at all. The apartment is very nice, with the bonus of outside space and we would have no problem recommending it to friends.

The flat is in a great situation for reaching all parts of City.It is quiet, clean and well maintained. the customer service was excellent, friendly and very helpful. Many wonderful restuarants within walking distance. A cruise on the river Douro is an unforgettable experience as is a tram ride. Stroll on the beautiful esplanades and in the many gardens overlooking the river. The port houses are fascinating and the wines are delicous. the beaches on Gaia are as good as any,There are too many attractions to name.Don't miss the botanical gardens with its small museum and the lovely Casa Tait where there is an vast selection of Port to be sampled.I could go on and on about the fine cafes and the ancient buildings but I think you should go and discover all for yourself.
